We were tasked with creating 20 custom PUBG energy drink cans for a commercial. The artwork was provided by the game developers and CAMAD prepared the labels for us. 7 clean, 7 battle worn and 6 blank cans were made.
The blank aluminum cans were made to allow an actor to actually open and drink from the can. The goal was to make these food safe. The labels were printed in matte to eliminate any glare for the camera.
The game accurate cans were sanded with 800 grit sandpaper, primered and painted with a matte white base coat. The metallic blue accents were done with acrylic. Having a perfect, even ring posed a challenge since any imperfections would show on the bright white background. A soft foam ring was constructed and paint was applied in a similar size and the can was spun to allow a clean metallic ring on the top of the can.
